This is short notice but anyone who is interested may join a field trip on Sunday, March 5 to the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve. This field trip is being offered to the CNPS Chapter Council as part of their quarterly meeting on Saturday at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden. Our chapter co-hosts this meeting. The field trip is certainly also open to all elist members. Info about the trip is pasted below. If you would like to attend, please contact Katie Barrows at kate.cnb@verizon.net or

FIELD TRIPS
SUNDAY, MARCH 5, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve
Located at the southern end of the Santa Ana Mountains, the Santa Rosa Plateau’s rolling topography ranges to over 2000 feet in elevation. Several basalt-capped mesas are scattered along the southern and eastern edges of the Plateau. On the level tops of these mesas are found some of Southern California’s last vernal pools, seasonal ponds which support fairy shrimp, wintering waterfowl, acres of spring wildflowers and several species of endangered plants. The short hike will take you through riparian, oak woodland, grassland, coastal sage scrub and chaparral zones as well. The chocolate lilies should be nodding their heads as a welcome to you!
We will meet at the Reserve Visitor Center at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning. Tom Chester, SRP Reserve volunteer and botanist extraordinaire will lead us. Bring lunch/snacks, water, sun protection, field guides, hand lens, camera. The Reserve can be reached from the I-15 S, take the CLINTON KEITH ROAD exit (0.29 miles); turn RIGHT onto CLINTON KEITH RD (4.31 miles); end at Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve, 39400 Clinton Keith Rd Murrieta, CA 92562.
